In addition, we consider it very useful to communicate to all staff, residents, families and visitors about the measures that we have taken in the past and as date to help keep our clients and care and support team safe. We have listened and currently follow directions given by the UK government, CQC, NHS, medical professionals, and WHO. We take these directions very seriously.
What we are doing to stay safe during COVID-19?
Our management team has a dedicated staff that monitors new developments about Covid-19 from the UK government, local authorities, NHS, medical and other professional bodies. the World Health Organization (WHO) and local health agencies. We provide up-to-date information and guidance to all care and support team, residents and families.
Also, our care staff and support team have been trained to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 based on recommendations and practices from the UK government, NHS, Local Authority and medical professional bodies among which include – hand washing, staying home when ill and complying with universal precautionary measure while working with residents and staff that may have contracted Covid-19.
How we keep our residents safe at home
We just do not recommend it but we are doing it. We insist our care and support team are required to perform COVID-19 screening before any contact with a resident or other members of staff. This COVID-19 screening consists mainly of a series of questions to determine a person’s risk for CO VID-19. For instance, we would ask you if you exhibit or suffer from Covid-19 symptoms, travel history in recent weeks and if you have had any exposure to someone with COVID-19.
We will take adequate measures immediately to remove that care staff who exhibits symptoms or may be at risk for infection and isolate them immediately from services. Besides, the care staff will not return to work with residents and other members of staff for a minimum of 14 days or until cleared by the GP if the care staff has been exposed to a facility where COVID- 19 is being treated or if the staff is showing symptoms of the illness. We provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and masks for all care and support team. All care staff and support team use standard precautions such as gloves, masks and gowns when appropriate and we carry out all lateral and other forms of tests daily in our home for residents, staff and visiting social workers, nurses and doctors.
Covid-19 Vaccinations
At Glow Healthcare, all our Care and Support staff team have had their double dose Covid-19 vaccination and possibly the booster jabs as part of NHS and government mandatory requirements for those working in care homes. Any new staff joining will have the double vaccination in order to work with us so as to ensure we provide maximum protection to our residents and other members of staff.
